Letter of Demand from Lim Kit Siang to Dr Mahathir

Dr Mahathir, the ex PM of Malaysia, wrote a blogpost titled “Gelang Patah” on 11th April 2013, regarding Lim Kit Siang of the DAP, and his intention to contest in the Parliamentary seat of Gelang Patah in Southern Johor.

I had shared my views about his blogpost in an earlier piece.

Today, Lim Kit Siang’s lawyers had sent Dr Mahathir a Letter of Demand for defamation against Lim Kit Siang.

I think it is only natural that Dr Mahathir was sent a Letter of Demand because what he had blogged about is a very serious allegation, and that he had refused to apologize and retract his post despite being given the chance by Lim Kit Siang to do so.

Should a former leader be subjected to the same laws as any other citizens?
